  1. The socio-cultural issues will influence the proposed creation of a Palestinian state. Among the socio-cultural issues is the issue of religion. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are primarily Muslim, but the land of the Jewish state is primarily Jewish. These two religions have differing views on how government and society should function, so conflicts arise between the religious groups. This especially pertains to Jerusalem, which is regarded as holy land by both religions. Geopolitical issues also influence the creation of a Palestinian state. To start, Israel claims to own all of the land, but Israel will have to relinquish some of the land it claims in order to give Palestine borders to establish a star within. This makes the establishment of a Palestinian state difficult, because Israel does not wish to give up its land. Finally, there have been endless historical factors that will influence the creation of a Palestinian State. There is a long history of conflict with the Yom Kippur War, the Six Day War, and terrorist acts between the Israeli and Palestinian people. This leads to disagreements and long standing resentment held between the nations. Overall, the socio-cultural, geopolitical, and historical factors of Israel and Palestine will influence the proposed creation of a Palestinian state.

  2. The main socioeconomic issue with the proposed Palestinian State is the differing views in religion which leads to difference in opinion on how a government should operate, opposite ways of life, and many other things that cause constant conflict between the two groups. On one side we have the Jewish state of Israel, and on the other stands Muslim Palestinians which have controlled this territory much longer then the Jewish State. Each faction proclaims this land to be sacred to each of their sides, and long-standing relations with the history of several conflicts in the past such as the Conflicts of 1948, 56, 67, and 73 represent a long and blood history between the two sides. Also, in order for a proposed Palestinian state, Israel must give up some of its land which won’t happen, so in short Israel would rather fight than give up its land so that’s exactly what is happening currently in the Gaza Strip and West Bank as Israel defends its territory. In conclusion, just to name the obvious, there are several socioeconomic factors which continuously stem from others to create a surplus f problems with the proposed Palestinian state.

  3. The primary cultural issue that is currently taking place is the opposing sides and viewpoints of Israel and Palestine. Israel, surrounded by the Gaza Strip and Jordan, contains Jews who practice Judaism. The surrounding territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank house Arabs who practice two Islamic branches. The first is Hamas which is primarily a terrorist group that utilizes violence to achieve success. The second is Fatah which takes a more diplomatic and peaceful strategy. Sacred lands to both sides such as Jerusalem are shared by these two states, they are neutral. Due to these two opposing views, many conflicts arise between them. The well-trained Jews fought against the Arabs and eventually won in the conflicts of 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973. The Jews have taken these sacred lands for themselves and refuse to share with the Muslims. This factor only promotes conflict between this bitter relationship and fighting continues between them in the Gaza Strip.

  4. The Largest Socio-cultural issue with the establishment of a recognized muslim (Palestinian) state within Israel is that despite the fact that the Gaza Strip and West-Bank are primarily muslim, the rest of Israel is mainly Jewish. The Jews and Muslims have different beliefs on how to run a government, and how the societies/culture should be functioning. This leads to many conflicts especially in areas that are highly controversial, such as Gaza Strip and West bank, in whether they should be Israeli or Palestinian ruled. Both of the states believe that their land is sacred, or considered a holy land, to their religions. Palestine wants to become a recognized state but that entails Israel sacrificing land, which is important to their economic status. They would much rather go to war against the Palestinians than give up land. The Jews from Israel are highly trained in war, due to them fighting in World War II as a military or as guerilla fighters. They have faced the Muslim palestinians in war in the years of 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973, eventually came out on top in each bloody conflict. The Conflict between Israel and Palestine is an ongoing conflict and will most likely not be resolved for generations to come.
