How has the genocide of Rwanda in 1994 affected modern day Rwanda?
To start, I think that your question is technically grammatically correct. However, I might suggest rephrasing it to say "the genocide in Rwanda” instead of “of Rwanda” or referring to the genocide as the Rwandan Genocide. In addition you may want to change the word “modern” to "contemporary", because as we learned in class, modern actually refers to time since the 16th century. I believe that your question can be effectively answered in the given time. Your topic could cover a wide range of events, so just make sure that you chose the most important events to include in the assignment to ensure that you do not waste time researching affects that are not strong evidence for your topic. Your question is very open, so do not forget to include the influence of the genocide on the politics, the economy, and the social factors of Rwanda. You may also want to include a bit of background on why the genocide occurred, who carried out the genocide, and what the influence of the genocide is on the perpetrator group as well as the victimized group. Overall, you have a very interesting topic that will make for a great essay and presentation.
